Distributed internationally as The Generous Lover, Mady Saks’s Dutch treat De Gulle Minnaar (1990) stars Peter Faber as an amazingly successful Casanova. Peter (Faber) has such an easy time bedding friends, neighbors, and random bombshells he meets on the street that he starts to feel quite cocky about his powers of sexual persuasion. His prodigious talents backfire, however, when an angry ex-flame decides to go to the tabloids with the story of Peter’s insatiable sexual appetite. Suddenly the lothario is infamous around town, and not a single woman will stoop to sleeping with him. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.
