Zoeken naar Eileen (1987)

Feeling responsible for his wife’s death, a young husband grows distraught to the point of desiring his own death in the eerie Dutch drama Zoeken naar Eileen (1987). After carelessly causing the car accident that claims his wife’s life, Philip (Thom Hoffman) can’t shake his all-consuming feelings of grief and regret. It takes a year for the man to pull himself together, and when he finally does he has an encounter that changes his life. When beautiful Eileen (Lysette Anthony) strolls into the bookstore where he works, Philip can hardly believe his eyes, as she’s the spitting image of his late wife. In deciding to pursue her, however, the widower doesn’t realize that he’s setting himself up for a world of hurt. Of course, there’s a strong case to be made that Anthony’s worth it--and in fact, one peek at her taut bod should be enough to convince anyone.
