Ever feel like your life is the pits? You won't after you see the hardships endured by the Iranian refugees that are the Guests of Hotel Astoria (1989). Academy Award nominee Shohreh Aghdashlou stars in this film, which tells the intersecting stories of several families driven from their homes after the Islamic Revolution of 1979; after braving considerable danger leaving Iran, they make it to the titular hotel in Turkey. Does this mean their ordeal is over? Of course not- the movie's just beginning. At least we've got a sliver of Shohreh's left breast in the shower to relieve the tension...speaking of, better hang the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. We're going to need at least an hour.
