Humor, like beauty, brains, and a winning personality, is often in the eye of the beholder. From most perspectives, the tale of a bright, stunning, and confidently bubbly female in the prime of her youth attempting suicide by gobbling a mixed bag of prescription pills in order to monopolize the attention of her feckless boyfriend’s wandering eye would seem to be a sorry story. But in the view of Italian master of the sex farce Marcello Aliprandi, such grist is the stuff of light-hearted romantic comedy, such as is presented in Senza buccia (1979). When Aliprandi generously populates his cinematic landscape with copious helpings of buoyant and comely feminine nudity, who are we to argue with his artistic vision?
