Le jeu avec le feu (1975)

As one of modern literature’s intellectual bad boys, Alain Robbe-Grillet is no stranger to writing oddball films that have us scratching our heads. And his French flick Le jeu avec le feu (1975) gives us an itch a bit further south! Translated to Giochi di fuoco (in Italian) and Playing with Fire (in English), the irreverent and risqué pic follows banker Georges de Saxe who fears his daughter Carolina (Anicee Alvina) is the target of kidnappers, even though they planned to abduct someone else. Nevertheless, Monsieur de Saxe hires a sleazy detective (Jean-Louis Trintignant) to hide Carolina in a bordello for rich freaks with weird kinks. Suffice it to say, low-brow hijinks, torture and extortion ensue! Convoluted? Yes. Hot? Hell yes!! For starters, Maria the maid (Agostina Belli) helps Ms. Alvina out of her dress. In another scene, the naked babe lets an old perv fondle her bare breasts, bush and butt! Similarly, Diana Van Den Berg (Sylvia Kristel) reveals her Van Den Boobs when she’s taken against her will by a bunch of baddies in a haystack. If that’s not twisted enough, Christina (Christine Boisson) is bound up. Apart from the ties on her wrists, the ingénue is totally nude — showing off her full frontal bod as well as her booty. Later, La Putain (Virginie Vignon) is stripped down to her birthday suit so a few dudes can view her three Bs. The movie also includes Joelle Coeur, Nathalie Zeiger, and lots of skin from anonymous brothel beauties. Merci beaucoup!
