A froth-red cocktail of skin and gore, Ice From the Sun (1999) brings alive the demons of purgatory and an evil wizard who has created a world of suffering and damnation from ice that he scraped from the sun. Director Eric Stanze (I Spit on Your Corpse, I Piss on Your Grave [2001]) makes up for limitations in budget and production capacities with an especially effective imagination for perverse tortures and a range of photo effects and unexpectedly jarring camera angles that set Ice From the Sun apart from the run-of-the-mill netherworld thriller.
