Head in the Clouds (2004)

Your head may be in the gutter while watching Head in the Clouds (2004) since this period piece features two of the finest pieces ever to have a period — Charlize Theron and Penélope Cruz! Set during the 1930s in war-torn Europe, John Duigan’s R rated flick follows Gilda Bessé (Theron) who begins an affair with Irish student Guy Malyon (Stuart Townsend) at Cambridge University. In fact, we get to see her seduce him by flashing her rack in the bath and then again in the sack. If that’s not arousing enough, Charlize often dons lovely lingerie that clings to her curves in the right way. Speaking of curves, Gilda’s life takes a turn when she’s turned on by Spanish-born beauty Mia (Cruz). The two lez-be-friends end up losing their costumes for a pillow fight in their skivvies which leaves audiences grabbing their pillows. Charlize plays a woman who never met an erection she didn’t want to suck, while Penélope is a model who is interested in medicine. Well, she definitely has a cure for what ails you! Indeed, Ms. Cruz will make your temperature (as well as another part of the anatomy) rise when she and Ms. Theron swap Sapphic spit! But when the Spanish Civil War is at its peak, Mia becomes a nurse, Guy becomes a soldier, and Gilda becomes tired of their arrangement. Although the film was nominated for a Jutra Award for Best Costume Design, Mr. Skin feels the costumes were not needed to spark his interest!
