Morvern Callar (2002)

The Scots may not be thought of as a light-humored bunch of people, but no one can fault them for perseverance in the pursuit of intoxicated mayhem and making the best out of a grim situation. This is especially true when it comes to Lynne Ramsay’s R rated pic Morvern Callar (2002). Based on Alan Warner’s same-named novel, the psychological flick picked up seven nominations at the British Independent Film Awards. Heaven knows the movie’s comely cast earned a statuette in Mr. Skin’s pants! Set in a Scottish port town, the story kicks off when the titular character (Samantha Morton) awakens on Christmas to discover her boyfriend has committed suicide. After shedding a few tears, Morvern cleans out her ex’s bank account, mails the manuscript of his recently completed magnum opus off to a publisher with her own name as author, and sets out for booze-soaked adventure upon the sunny isle of Ibiza. Since moody and surreal intoxicated bedlam follows Morvern everywhere, we get to see a lot of nudity! For starters, Sam flashes her back and rack as she takes a bath. The heroine later dons a see-through brassiere as she bangs a bloke in his hotel room. Better yet, Samantha bares her breasts while soaking in the tub with Lanna Phimister (Kathleen McDermott) who exposes her side boob and booty. Kathleen can also be seen during a topless bikini swap with Mette Karlsvik. Plus, a be-thonged Ms. Morton helps a bare-chested Ms. McDermott get out of bed. Rise and shine!
