Chocolat (2000)

Chocolat (2000) is romance about a woman and her daughter who open a chocolate shop in a small French village (which explains the “misspelling” of the title). Their presence shakes up the rigid morality of the community, of course. This is a movie, after all. The movie is like a live-action cartoon in it’s fairy-tale like sensibilities, but we like tails. It doesn’t hurt that the movie stars Juliette Binoche and Carrie-Anne Moss, both of whose beauty, sadly wasted here, at least in terms of skin exposure. At least there’s a flashback where Juliette’s mom, a Mayan herbalist, played by Christianne Gadd, has a very brief and dark look at her boobs.
