The Tall Guy (1989)

The Tall Guy (1989) is a comedy for the tall man or the short man. It doesn’t matter, man, as long as you like mams, because this movie has them. The title character is the statuesque Jeff Goldblum, who plays an American actor stuck in a dead-end stage job in London as a sidekick to Rowan Atkinson, playing a baggy-pants slapstick comedian. After six years of pie-in-the-face humiliation, Goldblum gets sacked. He lands in a musical adaptation of The Elephant Man’s story. But between the laughs is a sweet romantic tale of Goldblum’s courtship with Emma Thompson, who plays a prim nurse who underneath her reserved exterior boils a volcanic sexual nature. That is explicitly shown in a riotous lovemaking scene where Emma is topless. There’s also some brief boob from Joanna Kanska. It’ll make you a tall guy where it counts.
