If you watched Peacock’s new Friday the 13th-based horror series Crystal Lake and thought it skimped on the nudity, you aren’t the only one. It turns out showrunner Brad Caleb Kane feels the same, and it wasn’t for lack of trying.
In an interview with The Wrap, Kane confesses that he attempted to put more nude scenes into the eight-episode prequel series but was “overruled,” saying, “That’s America. You can give the kids violence, but God forbid they see some breasts.” You said it, Brad!
He was able to get one breast into the show at least, care of a curvy counselor played by nudecomer April Consalo. She slips a bit of nip out of the side of her top and delivers her bare buns while boinking costar Philip Themio Stoddard in the woods, right before being gruesomely dispatched by Linda Cardellini, playing the mom of infamous slasher Jason Voorhees.

But horror film fanatics know that the original Friday the 13th franchise is filled with great nude scenes. Though the trope existed before the 1980 film, it further cemented the unwritten rule of abstaining from having sex in horror movies to survive (as explained in the original Scream), since it was horny teens who accidentally “killed” Jason in the first place. And one thing about horny teens is that they tend to get naked!
Mr. Skin has been celebrating the quality and quan-titty of nudity in the Friday the 13th franchise for years, even putting together our own Top 5 earlier this year, which you can watch below.
Check it out and then decide if Crystal Lake does the source material justice!
