Swamp Thing (1982)

Before Wes Craven cleaned up with the Scream (1996-2011) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984-2010) franchises, the master of horror hits had a miss with the superhero flick Swamp Thing (1982) — not to be confused with the live-action series Swamp Thing (1990), the video game Swamp Thing (1992), and the TV-MA movie Swamp Thing (2019). Early on, Craven must have thought he was onto something big when he signed up to direct the DC Comics adaptation. Sadly, the movie initially bombed despite featuring the flesh on a famed brunette bombshell. However, it fared better on home video — even spawning the sequel The Return of Swamp Thing (1989). The original is still pretty fun as scientist Dr. Alec Holland (Ray Wise) accidentally turns into the titular creature (played by big Dick Durock in a monster costume). French star Louis Jourdan has a field day as the evil Anton Arcane, who actually wants to become a bog man. Breast of all, Adrienne Barbeau pops up (and out) as government agent Alice Cable. Throughout the course of the story, fans have a chance to glance at her heaving cleavage thanks to a few low-cut tops. But the real puzzler is why this PG rated pic didn’t take off once word got out that the busty babe displays her beautiful nude boobs during a swampy skinny-dipping scene. And now there’s even more of Adrienne on the home release, along with new footage of stripping gypsy gals who put the X into DVD eXtras!
