Blame budgetary cutbacks or credit the ingenuity of the insane, but a homicidal maniac has escaped from a mismanaged asylum and is determined to provide a giggling clique of sorority sisters with The Initiation (1984) of a lifetime. Trapped in a closed department store, a group of perky pledges must spend the night in the company of a slain security guard, a half dozen older girls attempting to scare the bejesus out of them, a few cute but dumb boys from campus, and a leading lady whose childhood trauma is one long blackout about to be illuminated. Plus, one of the girls might be the psycho slasher. The survivors will certainly have plenty to talk about at their ten-year reunion.
