Just 22 years old when he directed it, Don Coscarelli's Phantasm (1979) would go on to become a cult classic of horror cinema that would influence everything from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) to the stormtrooper Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). Jody Pearson (Bill Thornbury) has been stuck raising his thirteen year old brother Mike (A. Michael Baldwin) since their parents died. Tons of people in town are weirdly dying, and when Mike goes with Jody to one of their funerals, he sees a funeral home mortician known as The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) pick up an entire coffin with one hand. Convinced he's behind the deaths, Mike glues himself to Jody and saves him from a seductive woman looking to kill him in the cemetery. After some convincing, and a very convincing run-in with some still moving fingers that Mike manages to chop off The Tall Man, it's up to Mike, Jody, and their buddy Reggie (Reggie Bannister) to cut down The Tall Man to save the town. There are a whole bunch of sequels to this flick, but real fans know nothing beats the first Phantasm! Still, for a horror movie from the 1970's it has a disappointing lack of nudity. Kathy Lester plays the Lady in Lavender, an incarnation of the Tall Man used to seduce and kill Mike’s friends. Kathy unloads her jugs in an attempt at seduction, and after her success she keeps one of her wobblers out while wielding a knife at her victim. They’re boobs to die for! But they're not hers! It's the use of a double, with Laura Mann providing the amazing mams! We hate the switcheroo, but were still able to give ourselves a Phantgasm!
