Christopher Reeve wasn’t always a Superman. He was a pretty lousy priest in Monsignor (1982). No slight on religion, but if you’re going to wear the collar shouldn’t you play by the rules—even if those rules were written down millennia ago by an unknown author? A WWII war hero, Reeve is assigned as Vatican treasurer and begins illegal business transactions to fill the empty accounts of the Church, which were depleted during wartime. Talk about a white-collar crime. All this deceit works until Reeve falls for a French nun played by Geneviève Bujold. Even the Pope can’t turn a blind eye to that transgression. Neither will you when her little Sisters in Christ are bared at the altar of arousal.
