Director Roberto Fandiño illuminates the class struggle while bringing it in touch with the erotic possibilities of everyday life in the Buñuelian Cuban drama La Espquela (1976). Set in Andalusia in the years following the Spanish Civil War, the drama explores the prickly relationship that exists between despotic landowners and peasants.
