Based on true events, this period thriller tells the story of Friedrich Ritter (Jude Law), a German doctor who decides to leave the hustle and bustle of 1930s Europe with his wife Dore Strauch (Vanessa Kirby) and travel to the remote island of Floreana in the Galápagos to settle down. Articles about the couple’s new life start to appear overseas in newspapers, prompting others to join them like Heinz Wittmer (Daniel Brühl), his pregnant second wife Margaret (Sydney Sweeney), and Heinz’s tuberculosis-riddled son from his first marriage, Harry (Jonathan Tittel). They are then followed by Baroness Eloise (Ana de Armas), lusty manservants in tow, as she plans to build an extravagant hotel on the island. Friedrich and Dore are less than pleased about the arrival of these utopia-crashers and try their best to make them feel as unwelcome as possible, but everyone, along with their conflicting personalities and beliefs, are determined to stay. The bits of nudity in the film are more than a welcome sight, however, starting with Vanessa’s brief flash of boob while riding Jude’s junk and Sydney letting that left baby bumper out to breastfeed! Add some see-through nippage from Ana after a quick dip and that ocean threesome and you’ve got all the ingredients for paradise!
