Before Brian De Palma released his thriller Blow Out (1981), Michelangelo Antonioni thrilled movie goers with his thriller Blow-Up (1966). In fact, the stylistic flick from the Swinging Sixties was heralded as a mod masterpiece. Granted, the film’s innovative storytelling (which lacked a plot resolution) had as much to do with running out of funds to shoot explanatory scenes as it did with an artsy decision to break cinematic rules. Nevertheless, the movie won the hearts of critics and the hard-ons of audience members. No doubt, Blow-Up was popular thanks to its sexy starlets who weren’t afraid to shed their chic threads for their art. As such, we get to see the long gams and side mams on Veruschka von Lehndorff. At 6’3”, this German aristocrat/model is a tall glass of Doppelbock! If she’s not mouth-watering enough, Gillian Hills and Jane Birkin expose their boobage, muffage and bunnage as they roll around a paper backdrop with Thomas (David Hemmings). He’s a hip London fashion photographer who may have witnessed foul play while taking pictures in the park. When he enlarges the prints in his darkroom, Thomas uncovers a mystery that could alter his destiny. Has a murder occurred? With drop-dead gorgeous birds such as Jane (Vanessa Redgrave) and Patricia (Sarah Miles) flaunting their finery on camera, it’s highly possible. The movie also includes Janet Street-Porter, Jill Kennington, Tsai Chin, Susan Brodrick, and the smooth skin on Melanie Hampshire. As a model, she flashes her flesh during a revealing photo shoot. Say cheese!
