Back to Black (2024)

With her second tragic musician biopic after 2009’s John Lennon-inspired story Nowhere Boy, director Sam Taylor-Johnson brings the life of another British singer to the screen, Amy Winehouse (played by Industry star Marisa Abela). Starting with the bouffant-haired soul songstress’s performance of “Stronger Than Me,” the film takes us through her multiple Grammy wins, family issues, rehab stints, and eventual death at 27 from alcohol poisoning. Along the way, she meets Blake Fielder-Civil (Jack O’Connell), a charming no-goodnik who introduces her to the Shangri-Las hit “Leader of the Pack,” romance, hard drugs, and a life of turmoil. Marisa bares her pair several times as the enigmatic Amy, and at one point goes fully nude during a skinny dipping scene with O’Connell, giving fans a look at her buns and bush for the first time. Now that she’s delivered all three, we hope she never goes back!
