Lots of movies are labelled "incendiary" but very very few actually get theaters lit on fire. A movie where Jesus puts his junk inside Mary Magdalene will do that though, as was the case when The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) got literally firebombed in Paris. Directed by Martin Scorsese and based on the super controversial novel of the same name by Greek literary master Nikos Kazantzakis, Last Temptation dares to consider the Christian savior’s life as an actual man, imbued with all a common mortal’s needs and desires, and on top of that, possessed by the divine spirit that will compel him to his destiny as eternal redeemer. Willem Dafoe is JC, Harvey Keitel is Judas, Barbara Hershey is Mary Magdalene, and David Bowie of all people is Pontius Pilate in this wild version of the most famous story ever told. While super bold, the movie basically follows the New Testament story, with such highlights as Jesus getting tempted in the desert, raising Lazarus (Tomas Arana) from the dead, eating the last supper, and getting put on the cross. But wait! Plot twist! In this one, he gets down from it, marries Mary Magdalene, and becomes an old man before realizing that the last temptation was to not die on the cross and live to be an old family man. Don't worry, he'll resist that temptation and get back to the crucifixion in the end. That was a bit controversial, but nothing like the sex scene. Yes, we get to see the King of Kings doing some things with the former hooker played by Barbara Hershey. Eventually Miss Hershey gives him a lot more than kisses, but first she bares T&A doing the Lord's work. Prostitution, of course! Yes, we watch her bang a dude before becoming a disciple, then flash all three B's to The Christ. Then, we watch as him and her do the dirty deed, with Barbara's boobies bouncing all over the place! Go ahead and cast the first stone if you think JC didn't deserve a little Mary Mag bone! So controversial Blockbuster wouldn't even carry it, get a load of the Lamb of God busting a nut in The Last Temptation of Christ!
