You’ve got to hand it to director Jack Fisk, otherwise known as Mr. Sissy Spacek. He makes his directorial debut in Raggedy Man (1981) with a tale of a telephone operator who makes an obscene connection with Eric Roberts in a small Texas town during WWII. Fisk knows he’s got a peach of a star; hell, he’s been sleeping with her for years. And better still he lets the sweet star peel and show off her juicy fruits. Eventually things sour when Roberts leaves and some local heavies try to get their way with Sissy. But the taste of her ripe treats is something to savor.
