Paris (2003)

The buddy flick takes a road trip with a twist in Paris (2003). The picture opens with a grizzled Los Angeles detective indoctrinating his rookie partner in the fine points of felony evidence tampering, as in stealing a bag of cash off a dead skell. Whether by fluke or subconscious design, while snatching the loot the neophyte rogue manages to shoot his mentor dead. This sundering by death bodes ill for continuing the buddy portion of the picture, but the deepening and inspiring relationships between unlikely pals are only beginning! The surviving member of the detective team whisks off to Las Vegas and hooks up with the illegal Asian alien girlfriend of his croaked partner, bonds with her from lips to loins, and the entire sex-and-drugs criminal underworld chases them down a highway that may eventually lead to hell but feels a lot like heaven along the way.
