Marie and Bruce (2004)

Adapted from a 1979 play by Wallace Shawn (the voice of Rex the dinosaur in the Toy Story movies), Marie and Bruce (2004) stars Julianne Moore and Matthew Broderick in the title roles as a jobless Manhattan couple whose marriage is collapsing in comically spectacular fashion. We follow husband and wife on their separate ways through a day rife with whimsy and revelations, all of which leads to a party that neither one really wants to attend. Along the way, there emerges a seemingly magical dog, a series of dreamscapes, and the naked body of Julie Atlas Muz. Everything ends with a bang.
