Professional boxing is a sport rife with hazards, not the most debilitating being a steady stream of punches to the head. Still, the potential of winning a championship belt fuels the dreams of glory-seeking battlers and the men who train them, driving noble and courageous combatants to the brink of annihilation in the quest for respect and redemption. Fighting Tommy Riley (2005) presents the furious hopes of two inveterate strugglers. The young boxer is fast, strong, durable, and has killer smarts. In the ring he is a genius. On the streets he is a menace to everyone, including himself. An aging handler sees Tommy Riley as his last shot at greatness. Can the old man save the young puncher, or will the wild warrior’s heart destroy them both?
