I Will Make You Mine (2020)

Ah, the lovely and seemingly most realistic premise for an indie flick about love with a soundtrack that kicks ass, as three close friends look back as they reach different milestones in their life and reflect on their past relationship with the same lovable and aimless singer/songwriter, Goh (Goh Nakamura).  In this darling independent love story, I Will Make You Mine, we focus on Rachel (Lynn Chen) (who wrote, directs, and stars!), Yeah-Ming (Yea-Ming Chen), and Erika (Ayako Fujitani), all of whom are at a sort-of crossroad in their careers, love-lives, and growth as pseudo-adults in modern day San Francisco.  When the insanely talented and frustratingly like-able Goh comes back into their lives out of nowhere, they all pause and wonder was this dopey guy the best thing that happened to each of them, or are they doing what so many of us do when fondly remembering an ex... Are they looking through some rose-colored glasses on a guy who happened to be a part of a happier part of their lives when they were younger and had more years ahead of them and were less jaded adults?  Who knows, but they are definitely going to talk about him, dream about different choices along the way, and hope that Goh doesn't stir up too many feelings with his beautiful songs, mostly about them.  This film is presented in the "mumblecore" style of Linklater filmmaking and follows suit with a few sexy female leads in this flick, which is actually the third in a trio of films by the same crew following the same Asian American characters!  The only real nudity in this chapter comes from Yea-Ming Chen, who lets a boob slip in a bathroom scene.  Also, filmmaker Lynn Chen gets down to her undies in one scene as well, and Ayako Fujitani isn't left out of the sexy in this one too.  Check out this trilogy of cool indie flicks if you get a chance, you and your boner won't be disappointed by the nudity or the storylines!
