How to Be a Player (1997)

Friends of Dorothy aside, rare is the man who ever feels he is rich enough in the currency of poontang. This sense of being vaginally impoverished is especially poignant among young black American males, and no wonder. The forebears of these ambitious and striving men of color were imported to this country as chattel, allowed to possess nothing, not even their own bodies. The logical extension of this ancestral deprivation is How to Be a Player (1997), a comic social commentary focused on a girl-gaming brother bamboozled by tapping too much booty. Today's sons of Africa are obsessed with collecting as many sexual conquests as possible, even more so than the typical white guy, hard as that may be for the typical white guy to believe. Perhaps this insatiable ambition is what makes us all, under the skin, progeny of the same monkey.
