Freeway (1996)

Director Matthew Bright turns a popular children’s story into an adults-only tale of perversity and vice in Freeway (1996). Loosely modeled on the Little Red Riding Hood legend, the Oliver Stone-penned film tells of a strung-out teen prostitute (Reese Witherspoon) who embarks on a hitchhiking quest to find her grandmother and escape a life of foster care. Naturally the Big Bad Wolf (Kiefer Sutherland) gives her a lift and reveals that he’s a serial killer with a taste for teen flesh. Bright’s film is a depraved and twisted road movie, but there is light at the end of this tunnel--co-star Amanda Plummer dons some skintight clothes for a pair of near-nude scenes at a sunny truck stop.
