Fancy Dance (2024)

Fresh off her historic Oscar nomination for Killers of the Flower Moon, Lily Gladstone returns to the big screen as Jax, a queer Cayuga woman living on a reservation in Oklahoma. Her sister Wadatawi has been missing for two weeks, and she’s been taking care of Tawi’s daughter Roki (Isabel Deroy-Olson) while pleading with authorities to help find her. Despite having a brother (Ryan Begay) in the tribal police department, not much is being done, and things go from bad to worse when child protective services come to collect her niece after Jax’s criminal record is uncovered. Roki is taken to stay off-reservation with Jax’s estranged father (Shea Whigham) and his second wife (Audrey Wasilewski), where she optimistically waits for her mother’s return in time for the upcoming annual powwow. Now Jax has to try and maintain a relationship with Roki so she can stay connected to her indigenous roots and help shield her from the inevitable while continuing what seems to be a fruitless search. Not the best setup for a sexy good time, but Lily manages to spice things up by appearing in a sports bra right at the start, then getting her own personal lapdance from scantily clad stripper Crystle Lightning.
