Beach Party (1963) is what America was swinging to when the British Invasion surprised us. We were all at the beach, and it’s our humble opinion that it was better there in bikinis than in bowl haircuts and Cuban boots. This starred America’s sweetheart, the former Mouseketeer, Annette Funicello, who grew too big for that show when she hit puberty, but had just the figure to stuff a wild bikini thanks to her massive mams. The movie pairs her with pop star Frankie Avalon and, for its time, was considered a racy feature. There’s lots of beach attire, though, to get the teenage hormones boiling, and Vincent Price for those who go that way.
