Bar Esperança

Bar Esperança (1983)

Great Nudity!

Review

A bawdy gang of artists and intellectuals rallies around their beloved bar in the Brazilian comedy Bar Esperança (1983), also known as Bar Esperança, o Último que Fecha. As the titles imply, Esperança is a bar. It’s located in Rio de Janeiro’s Ipamena neighborhood which is populated with poets, painters, journalists, and assorted ne’er-do-wells. These include actress Ana (Marília Pêra) and her conflicted TV producer husband Zeca (Hugo Carvana). Carvana really knew his role since the late actor worked behind the scenes as the movie’s director and co-writer. Perhaps it was his idea to have the titular bar be threatened with demolition. As such, Ana, Zeca and their amigos are determined to save their favorite watering hole or at least party until the wrecking ball arrives. Their efforts include a topless striptease from Áurea Celeste (Eliana Araujo) who sheds her black bottoms to expose her fluffy muff on stage. Needless to say, Mr. Skin gives the skintastic actress a standing ovation in his pants. The racy romp also includes Anselmo VasconcelosLouise Cardoso, Maria Gladys, Paulo César Peréio, Thereza Mascarenhas, Tessy Callado, Tião D’Ávila, and the fab flesh on Silvia Bandeira. As Cotinha, the sleek stunner peels off her white bra and panties for the camera. Consequently, audience members are treated to views of her bare boobs and bush. Yet despite Ms. Bandeira’s ethnicity, it looks like she’s never even heard of a Brazilian if you now what we mean. Nevertheless, the hairy hottie has us brushing up on our Spanish tongue!
