Alexander (2004)

It's swords, sandals, and sirens as the King of Macedonia leads his army against the Persian Empire in the fourth century. Oliver Stone may have radically altered Alexander (2004) for this Director's Cut, but the latent homosexuality of the famous Greek warrior king still is unavoidable. Thankfully Rosario Dawson does her naked womanly best to keep the boners popping for the other side. She hits a glam slam flashing her three B’s in a scene with Colin Farrell, successfully usurping all the attention usually reserved for costar Angelina Jolie! Rosario plays Roxane, the most beautiful woman in the world, and it's no great mystery why she nabbed the role. This fraught production about the King of Macedonia who swept across much of the world as it was known at the time is more than worth the watch, particularly in the Director's Cut. The overall sweep and battle scenes are impressive, particularly in a post-Lord of the Rings world. Suffice to say, the money is all up there onscreen. Historical accuracy is unknown, however, and much of the dialog takes on more of a speech-like quality than actual conversations. Nonetheless, this film gets a worse reputation than it deserves due to a slightly underwhelming script and more or less one-dimensional characters. For flesh fiends of the world, there is plenty here to admire, particularly from the likes of Angelina Jolie and the endlessly hot Rosario Dawson. It's too bad we didn't get a lot more full frontal from Rosario, but Alexander has conquering to do that doesn't involve the female body. Oh well!
