The WWII tale Yanks (1979) follows Richard Gere and William Devane as American soldiers who discover romance while stationed in a small English town. Gere hooks up with local shop girl Lisa Eichhorn, while Devane gets to nibble on the uppercrust of Vanessa Redgrave. The locals aren’t too happy to see the Americans enjoying themselves, but give the US troops a break. After all, they’re about to risk their lives for Europe. And, thanks to naked turns by Eichhorn and Redgrave, our boys have a real reason to be inspired.
