Without You I’m Nothing (1990), so says Sandra Bernhard, who stars in this studio version of her off-Broadway show. The movie blends re-enactment of the original production with concept pieces and testimonials that all work together to paint a portrait of the artist and her audience. No doubting Sandra is a talent, but we might get an argument about her ability to arouse. We hope not. Ours is a cannibalistic approach to carnality. All are welcome. The more the merrier. We just wish she’d meet us half-way by getting a little more naked in her work. Not that she doesn’t push that envelope. Like here where she shakes her nearly nude body, covered only in G-string and pasties to “Little Red Corvette.” It gets our engine going.
