Spies Like Us (1985)

Thanks to director John (National Lampoon’s Animal House) Landis, you’ll experience a lot of laughs and a little lust while watching the espionage comedy Spies Like Us (1985). Echoing the seven Bob Hope and Bing Crosby Road to... movies that spanned from 1940 to 1962, this eighties romp has bumbling buddies Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase playing a pair of inept secret agents. Little do they know they are being used as decoys while a more competent team completes the real mission. Despite featuring blonde bombshell Donna Dixon, the undercover flick keeps her covered up. That’s probably because she’s also the real life wife of Mr. Aykroyd. Luckily, real life Playboy poser Heidi Sorenson was relatively free to flash her bra-clad rack in the movie. And while portraying Svetlana Plotnikova, Bjarne Thomsen, Sergei Rousakov and Garrick Dombrovski, model turned actress Vanessa Angel got to strut her stuff in sexy skivvies. I spy with my little eye a busty body! If her titillating image doesn’t give you a boner, the humorous appearances in the pic will tickle your bone. Comic legend Bob Hope makes a cameo as himself. Famed filmmakers Frank (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) Oz; Joel (The Big Lebowski) Coen; Larry (It’s Alive) Cohen; Martin (Midnight Run) Brest; Michael (The World Is Not Enough) Apted; Sam (Evil Dead) Raimi; and Terry (Brazil) Gilliam also pop up. Add in the fact that Paul McCartney wrote and recorded the film’s chart-topping title song and it’s no mystery why Spies Like Us is a cult classic!
