Walter Matthau plays a rumpled, civil-libertarian Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in the politics-tinged comedy First Monday in October (1981). He's initially thrilled when a woman is appointed to the bench, but then he recoils when it turns out to be Jill Clayburgh as an ultra-right-wing conservative. The justices argue and almost fall in love and Jill does a nearly nude shower scene that will have you banging your gavel.
