Slap Shot (1977)

You’ll slap your knee and slap your stick while watching Slap Shot (1977) since it features a host of jokes and a pair of jugs! But back in the 20th century, we were used to weeping at Knute Rockne, All American (1940), The Pride of the Yankees (1942), Brian’s Song (1971), The Champ (1979), Hoosiers (1986), Field of Dreams (1989), and Rudy (1993). Yet Slap Shot (1977) is a sports flick that elicits more jerking off than tear-jerking moments. Instead of needing a box of tissues for sad scenes, you’ll be using Kleenex for other things! Not only is this cult classic one of the best sports films ever made, it’s full of hoots and hooters too. Thanks to director George Roy Hill and writer Nancy Dowd, Paul Newman plays Reggie Dunlop. He’s the manager of a third-tier hockey team that wins back fans through ultra-violence. After recruiting three greasy-haired bruisers known as the Hanson Brothers (Jeff Carlson, Steve Carlson, and David Hanson), the blood flows as fast as the seats fill. Speaking of seats, check out the clothed-cabooses on Jennifer Warren, Lindsay Crouse, and Swoosie Kurtz. The film also includes Michael Ontkean, Paul Dooley, Ned Dowd, Strother Martin, and Melinda Dillon’s nude debut! During a bedroom scene, the blonde babe displays her naked knockers.
