Occupational hazards for a female prison guard seem to be obvious and multitudinous enough without factoring in the protean beast that plagues the well-meaning, tough, but toothsome correctional-employee heroine of Shapeshifter (2005). A rough week behind bars turns into a hellish day in the hole when a demonic and crafty “thing” begins slaying inmates and screws alike. It turns out there are fates in the penitentiary worse than sodomy. If any souls are to be saved, the mean, macho convicts must band together under the guidance of their fiercely feminine warder and fight back while they still have fight to give.
