The Spanish series Maricón Perdido, or Queer You Are, debuted in Spain in the summer of 2021 before making its way Stateside that fall when it premiered on HBO Max. The series was created by cultural critic and essayist Roberto Enríquez, better known by his pen name Bob Pop, and tells the story of his teenage life as a gay man growing up in the waning days of Franco's repressive rule in Spain. Gabriel Sánchez plays him as a teen, experiencing his sexual awakening, as well as discovering his burgeoning love of musical theatre and all things pop culture in the 1980s. He is also played by Carlos Gónzález during his college days in Madrid, finding his voice as a writer and coming into his own as a person in general, away from the judgmental eyes of his more conservative hometown. The show is an often uproarious look at the culture clash between a young gay man developing his flamboyant personality and the unsympathetic peers he's had to deal with in his journey toward self discovery, and though there are plenty of empathetic moments in which the young man has to deal with rampant homophobia, the show manages to keep its creator's sunny demeanor throughout. Unfortunately for us, the show doesn't have much in the way of sexy female content. There are plenty of girls in skimpy outfits that come and go throughout the series, but in terms of nudity, it's much more firmly focused on the guys. While it's fun to root for an underdog, we can't recommend the show if you're looking for some knockout female nudity!
