A period biopic that outwardly admits to filling in some of the gaps in history with imaginative fiction, this German drama centers on Gabriele Münter (Vanessa Loibl), who arrives in Munich to study art. This is how she meets up-and-coming Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky (Vladimir Burlakov), who is teaching an evening drawing class. Despite their eleven-year age gap and the fact that Kandinsky is a married man, the two fall in love and embark on a passionate affair. They eventually build a life together in Murnau in Upper Bavaria and not only co-found the Neue Künstlervereinigung München (the New Artists' Association in Munich), but create the visual art almanac Der Blaue Reiter. However, as it happened in real life, only Kandinsky’s work is acknowledged while Münter’s contributions during her own transition from Impressionism to Expressionism are largely overshadowed. We can at least give credit where credit is due when it comes to nudity. Just like her character, Vanessa gives it her all, going fully nude for a sex scene on a dock and then delivering another brief shot of her beautiful boobage. Now there’s a dynamic duo!
