Mosquito State (2020)

The Shudder original horror movie Mosquito State (2021) is a period piece set in the year 2007 about a Wall Street analyst named Richard Boca (Beau Knapp) who knows that something ominous is on its way, and not just the housing market collapse of the following year. Richard develops an algorithm that portends of the chaotic crash on its way, but no one at his high powered firm wants to take any time out of their day to listen to him and his doom saying. At a party, Richard meets a kind hearted sommelier named Lena (Charlotte Vega) and the two begin a relationship, though soon all of his paranoia proves to be too much for her as well. Actually it's that and the fact that Richard's luxurious penthouse apartment has suddenly come under attack by a swarm of mosquitos he can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard he tries. He begins coming in to work with enormous welts of mosquito bites all over his face and body, trying to pretend as if nothing is wrong, when the evidence is plainly written across his face. Is this all a larger metaphor for the trouble everyone else is pretending isn't right around the corner or is there something much more textual happening? We're not entirely sure, to be honest, but we do know that the peek we get at Charlotte Vega's right breast is worth the price of admission alone! In a bizarre dream sequence, a nude Charlotte covers her boobs and bush with her arms, but even they can't do the job 100% of the time and we're treated to a glimpse of her right breast! That'll prick up your stinger!
