Set in late 1980s Poland, we meet Ela (played by the film’s co-writer Lena Góra), the youngest of nine siblings, who struggles with bipolar personality disorder. After a stay in a mental health facility, she becomes involved in the Polish underground post-punk scene, becoming the lead vocalist in a new-wave band while falling head over heels in love with a painter Stach (Waclaw Warchol). Between her rising music career, her passionate romance, and her avant-garde artist friends, Ela is experiencing a new sense of freedom, which all may come crashing down amidst a time of political upheaval… and the news that she’s pregnant. Lena’s lovely body is out on display several times throughout the film: skinny-dipping, posing nude for paintings and photographs, or just warming her boobs, butt, and bush in the sunlight. She’s not shy about showing things off, which is a good quality to have when hanging out with other naked people like Kamila Turek and Dagmara Brodziak, both of whom bare their breasts for the first time here.
