Hustle & Flow (2005)

Street pimps are inherently ambitious fellows, driven to accumulate cash and prestige no matter what the cost to any vulnerable soul with a marketable body who crosses their path. It’s no wonder then, that a life of smacking hos and spending their dough eventually leaves an empty hole in the gut of the hero panderer whose attempted rise from mack daddy to rapper royalty is the inspirational fodder of Hustle & Flow (2005). This urban Cinderella tale stars Terence Howard as DJay, a Memphis based pimp who wants to become a rapper. Amidst raising all sorts of illicit funds to buy time in the recording studio to make a demo tape, DJay tries to craft his tales of urban squalor into toe tapping hit records. Along with his hooker turned hook singer Shug (Taraji P. Henson) and the recording studio duo of Key (Anthony Anderson) and Shelby (DJ Qualls), they craft a demo tape to try and get their music out there. When hood hero turned rap star Skinny Black (Ludacris) is in town, DJay decides to try and slip him the demo, then violently blows up when he sees Skinny discard it. Did DJay just ruin any shot of success, or will his gangster move in the face of such blatant disrespect give him the street cred to get his song on the radio? We doubt real Memphis ladies of the night are as hot as the ones in the movie, but if they are you can book Mr. Skin a first class ticket to Blues City to cure these blue balls! Paula Jai Parker is one of these professional porkers, who we see jiggling her jugs in some lingerie as a stripper, and lounging on the couch in a crop top. We'll pay top dollar to do the hustle till we bustle with her! But it's Taryn Manning who turned Memphis into Mamphis via a topless scene. She's Nola, a skinny white hooker with braids who we see getting dressed by putting an orange top over her pasty but perky pair. That'll get your juices flowing! As the Academy Award winning song said, it's hard out here for a pimp. But it's hard down there when you're watching Hustle & Flow!
