Down by Love (2016)

Down by Love (2016) is a classier, French take on the women in prison genre that's actually based on a true story. Blue Is the Warmest Color's (2013) Adéle Excharopoulos is Anna Amari, a sexy, sexually deprived inmate with what would be a great porn name, currently stuck serving time at an all-female prison. She's been behind bars for roughly half of an almost decade-long sentence for a crime the movie never specifies, probably because in real life the criminal she's based on lured a Jewish into the hands of a racist gang that killed him. Finally aging into adult prison, she's moved to the penitentiary run by the forty something prison director Jean Firmino (Guillaume Gallienne). When chemistry strikes with the middle aged but not yet soft in the middle prison director, sparks (and clothes) fly. This presents some problems for both Jean's career and his marriage, but we can understand why he'd take his chances on this hottie, even if it's going to end up landing him in jail. Jailbait, indeed! American critics weren't big fans of the power dynamics at play here, but couldn't deny there was some dynamite nudity in this one.  Adéle gets a whole new kind of strip search in the film, baring boobs and butt during sex with the director in the library, in the bathroom, and even flashing all three B's when he takes things into the bedroom. Must be some kind of furlough scheme that let us see her fur below the belt! But before you think he was just a lonely dude looking for a female friend, he had Stéphanie Cléau as his wife. She goes full frontal in her kitchen, seducing him as he prepares to make dinner. Round it out with an inmate underwear photoshoot that includes a very busty but bra beholden Selma Mansouri, and you'll by Up by Love in no time! Who knew running a prison got you so many women?
