At his best, civilized man is only one atrocity away from unleashing a savagery unsurpassed by jungle beast or wilding heathen. At least, that's the theory in Death Wish (1974), a revenge classic that launched four sequels and a reboot. Charles Bronson is Paul Kersey, a successful architect, loving and caring husband, thoughtful neighbor, and overall upright citizen. At least, he is until his wife and daughter get attacked by street thugs (one of whom is a very young Jeff Goldblum). His wife dies, his daughter is all mentally messed up by it and winds up becoming a mute, and soon enough the peace loving former conscientious objector who just happens to be a crack shot from growing up hunting with his dad, decides it's time for revenge. From there, Paul delivers death not just to those responsible for what happened to his wife and daughter, but anyone stupid enough to hurt innocent people in Paul's presence. But this vigilante is no Batman, he straight up blasts the bad guys with a couple of different handguns. Bronson's daughter is played by the adorable Kathleen Tolan, and though it's a terrifying and torturous scene, we do get to see her rack when a bald mugger grabs her, and tears off her schoolgirl outfit. Those things are fully grown! It's not hard to enjoy the flash once you realize it's all make believe, which is pretty easy to do seeing Jeff Goldblum pull down his pants and flash a bit of ass. We just wish there was a less disturbing skin scene in Death Wish
