Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

If you think The Blair Witch Project (1999) is the OG of found footage flicks, you must never have found out about Italian gore-meister Ruggero Deodato’s ultimate excursion into cinematic savagery, Cannibal Holocaust (1979). Notorious from the moment of its release, Cannibal Holocaust flipped out even the most atrocity-hardened audiences as it splattered across grindhouse and drive-in screens throughout the 1980s. So many people thought the whole thing was real, major French magazines were convinced it was an actual snuff film. All these years later, while filmgoers are far savvier, the filled with real animal executions flick continues to traumatize video renters and midnight movie crowds. NYU anthropology professor Harold Monroe (Robert Kerman--a.k.a. vintage porn stud R. Bolla) is dispatched to the jungles of Colombia to find out what happened to the New York-based documentary crew who had ventured there some time earlier. Kerman learns the gruesome truth when he discovers the documentary crew's dead bodies and film canisters, which show the New Yorkers despicably abusing local tribe members (especially the nubile native girls) and then suffering amazingly torturous, penis-slicing, entrails-munching come-uppance. Francesca Ciardi makes for an appetizing (in every sense) naked blonde interloper, who films herself coming out of the shower without a towel, before a dude grabs the camera and zooms in on her bush. Hers are far and away the best cans in Cannibal Holocaust. The less sexy but more interesting bit of nudity came from Lucia Costantini, who plays a native adulterer who the local tribe punish via stoning. She's fully nude, but covered in mud because she's not a native at all, she's the film's head of wardrobe who was covered in mud to disguise her race when all the Native women turned down the offers to do the scene. Plent of women look awfully yummy in Cannibal Holocaust!
