Bella ciao (2001)

It's 1932 in Italy, and Mussolini's right on time to ruin some lives in Bella Ciao (2001), the tale of a coupla communists no longer at home on their home turf. Jacques Gamblin and Yael Abecassis are the couple in question, and they and their kids turn tail toward America to escape the Fascists. Things get mixed up, though, and instead they end up in Marseilles; in need of work, they decide to put down stakes. Jacques gets a gig as a manual laborer for a local moneybags (Serge Hazanavicius) who just happens to have once had a thing for lovely Yael. When the big bossman decides to throw his support behind Il Duce, things get tense for these refugee 'rents.
