Beautiful Disaster (2023)

It’s a film adaptation of the novel by controversial conservative author Jamie McGuire about a first-year college student named Abby (Virginia Gardner) who left her troubled past as a skilled poker player to start anew and finds herself falling for Travis (Dylan Sprouse), a bad boy sophomore moonlighting as an underground boxer. The two make a bet that if he loses his next match, he has to abstain from sex for a month, but if he wins she has to live with him for a month. We can’t tell if the fact that it was written and directed by Roger Kumble (the man behind the very 90s teen remake of Dangerous Liaisons, Cruel Intentions) makes it less crazy or more. One night, she gets drunk and shows him her boobs, but we only see Virginia in her bra. An oily massage leads to them finally having sex, and then there’s a quick flash of sideboob when he rips off her top in the shower at about an hour and eighteen minutes in.
