Tralala (2021)

Forty-something year old Paris busker Tralala (Mathieu Amalric), on the brink of losing his squatter’s residence, comes across a young woman in blue (Galatéa Bellugi), who tells him “Above all, don’t be yourself” and leaves him a bit on money and a cigarette lighter. Not really knowing if she was real or a hallucination, Tralala is compelled to trek his guitar and amp to the Catholic shrine Lourdes, and through another street performer ends up at disused disco which doubles as a homeless shelter. Its owner, Lili (Josiane Balasko), mistakes Tralala for her son, Pat, a musician who had gone to the US to pursue his career two decades earlier and hasn’t been seen since, and Tralala decides to take on that identity to her her closure and himself the loving home he never knew. The marvelous Mélanie Thierry plays Jeannie, one of Pat’s old flame’s who knows Tralala isn’t her former lover but still jumps into the sack with him. After they bump uglies, Mélanie gets out of bed fully nude, showing off her French fanny, funbags, and fur taco while singing seductively in front of a window. Her nude crooning is music to our ears AND eyes!
