The Last Mercenary (2021)

The second act of Jean-Claude Van Damme's career has been an utter delight as the formerly stoic action star has begun to embrace his funnier and substantially more charming side in films like JCVD (2008), Welcome to the Jungle (2013), and his Amazon Original Series Jean-Claude Van Johnson! This trend continues with the Netflix Original action comedy The Last Mercenary (2021), which finds The Muscles from Brussels playing a retired French Secret Service agent who is called back into action! Richard "The Mist" Brumére (Van Damme) is enjoying his life away from the constant threat of violence, but her must return to the life he left behind to protect his estranged son Archibald (Samir Decazza) who is on the run after being mistaken for a notorious arms dealer. Richard knows that he is the only man alive who can not only keep his son safe, but also help to clear his son's name by finding and capturing the actual arms dealer for whom his son has been mistaken! Cheeky fun and kick-ass action follow as father and son bond over not getting killed by people on both sides of the law and, hopefully, make amends for all the years spent hating and resenting one another! While the film is chockablock with action and humor, it's not quite as nudity-filled as you might be hoping! There is, however, a sexy scene at the hour and fourteen minute mark where Karyna Bershadska—as one of a pair of lethal female assassins—has her left breast pop out of her top while fighting a guy in a locker room! Don't be surprised if something pops out of your clothes as a result!
