Review

The Strawberry Statement (1970) is an unusual exploitation movie. It’s of the skimpy genre called political exploitation. The film is based on the real-life student upraising at Columbia University by the SDS, which would become even more radical in the ‘70s as the Weather Underground. But at this more innocent time the forecast was ripe for sexy skies. The flick stars the wide-eyed and bushy-tailed Kristina Holland, who doesn’t show her tunnel but does show just about every other piece of thoroughfare she sports. The narrator recording the historic events even finds time to put his pencil down and let a big-breasted honey suck on his flesh stick while he fantasizes about the topless native girls on page forty-three of his National Geographic. Yes, The Strawberry Statement is a sweet dessert to savor at the end of the turbulent ‘60s. Right on!
